Frank Musarella, 46, a retired NYPD detective, worked as a EMT. Musarella took a picture of Caroline Wimmer, 26, who was found dead assaulted and strangled on March 30, 2009. Musarella posted Caroline Wimmer’s photo on his Facebook profile.

Musarella was arrested and charged with official misconduct. If Musarella is found guilty, he faces a maximum of one year in jail. Musarella has to attend a curt hearing on September 2.

Caroline Wimmer’s parents want to sue Facebook, the City of New York, the NYPD, the FDNY and Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta, for publishing their dead daughter’s photo.

Caroline Wimmer’s killer may be a suspect named Calvin Lawson, 28. Lawson has been charged with murder and manslaughter.
