In Australia, Gordon Wood, 46, was convicted and found guilty of killing 24-year-old model Caroline Byrne. Gordon Wood faces life in prison when he is sentenced for the murder of Caroline Byrne.

Caroline Byrne was found dead and wedged like a spear at Gap, a cliff near Sydney harbour, Australia, in June 1995. Witnesses testified that Byrne’s body was found wedged in a crevasse and could only have ended there by being thrown. Byrne’s injuries were inconsistent with those of someone who had committed suicide by jumping down from the cliff.

Gordon Wood had worked as an actor, aerobic instructor and was labelled as a playboy by the press. Caroline Byrne and Gordon Wood were in a relationship that could have been breaking down by the time the alleged murder happened.

When the murder investigated focused on Wood as a suspect, he escaped to London but was eventually caught and extradited to Australia to face the murder charges. Gordon Wood would be appealing against the guilty verdict.
