Trevor Varinecz was the student shot dead in Carolina Forest High School. Varinecz asked to talk to the student resource officer privately in his office. Varinecz and the officer had a verbal argument that turned physical. Varinecz stabbed the officer. The officer drew out his gun and shot Varinecz.

Varinecz was fatally shot. Varinecz’s body was sent to the medical examiner for an autopsy to be performed.

Varinecz and the officer were initially sent to the same hospital, the Conway Medical Center. Varinecz died at around 11 am. The officer received treatment for his stab wound. He is in a stable condition. He will be released soon.

The Carolina Forest High School student resource officer is a police officer who has worked at the school for more than 10 years.
