Carly Smithson auditioned for American Idol season 7 in 2008, even though she had an album released by MCA records in 2001. She had recorded under the name Carly Hennessy.

Carly Hennessy claimed her album lacked the promotion to sell. Smithson reached the finals of American Idol but was placed 6th. Carly Hennessy Smithson is married to Todd Smithson. The Smithsons work together in a tattoo shop.

Now in 2009, yet another singer who has done a record wants to compete with other aspiring singers in American Idol Season 8. Joanna Pacitti wants to start over as she claims her previous deal with a record company failed to work out after her first album was cut. Pacitti’s album, “This Crazy Life”, was released by Geffen Records in 2006.

Both Carly Hennessy Smithson & Joanna Pacitti share similarities as they try to carve out a singing career the second time around.
