There was a suicide in Canandaigua Academy on Tuesday May 5. Canandaigua is southeast of Rochester, New York. The Canandaigua Academy high school student used a gun to fatally shoot dead himself or herself in the bathroom. The identity of the Canandaigua student was not released.

Canandaigua Academy sent their students home while the authorities conducted investigations. The Canandaigua student who committed suicide was 17 years old. It was around lunchtime in Canandaigua Academy when the suicide happened.
