Can a Muslim hairdresser wear her headscarf?
Blushra Noah, 19, has claimed £34,000 or USD 68,000 in compensation against a hair salon owner. The owner refused to hire her because she wore her Muslim religious headscarf.
Salon owner, Sarah Desrosiers, 32, argued that her hairdresser MUST show her hair because it was a requirement in that line of work. She claimed she wold be financially ruined if she lost the case on religious discrimination. Blushra has also been rejected by other salons. Sarah made the mistake of highlighting the hair exposure issue so she was taken to court.
There are bald and balding hairdressers. Ageing hair stylists need to continue in their vocations for their livelihood. If a hairdresser does not show hair, it does not mean that s/he is not worthy to work on customers’ hair.

Surely the whole point of wearing a headscarf is because it is supposed to protect “modesty” and to rebuke women who try to make themselves attractive to men other than their husbands.
If Ms Bushra thinks that wearing a headscarf is important to her, then it would be a criticism of all the customers she served.
