Cameron Newton: Cameron Newton charged over theft
By Clarencia Cynrae on November 22nd, 2008Cameron Newton, Florida’s backup quarterback, was arrested on Fri., Nov. 21. Cameron Newton was charged with 3 felonies related to stealing a laptop computer. The laptop was estimated at $1700.
Cameron Newton was charged with burglary, theft, and obstruction of justice. The laptop was stolen from a student’s room. The stolen item was traced to Cameron Newton through a computer network service. Campus police checked the laptop in Cameron Newton’s room, copied down the serial number and left. When they checked that number against the missing item, the serial number matched. When campus police returned to Newton’s room a second time, the laptop was missing. Cameron Newton had tossed it out his bedroom window.
Urban Meyer, Florida’s coach, told the press Cameron Newton has been suspended indefinitely from the team.
