Calista Springer died in Feb. 2008 after a house fire. Calista Springer was found dead and chained to her bed in her father and stepmother’s home in Centreville, St. Joseph County, Michigan.

Anthony Springer, the father of Calista Springer, 16, claimed she was restrained to protect her from unsafe behavior at night. Anthony Springer claimed his daughter, Calista Springer, was a child with special needs who had to have help. The Springer family’s relatives and friends alleged that Calista was a victim of child abuse by her parents. Marsha Springer was Calista’s stepmother.

Anthony Springer and Marsha Springer were charged with manslaughter and child-abuse of Calista Springer. The Springers’ arraignments are planned for Dec. 15. A charge of manslaughter carries 15 years in prison. A charge of child abuse also carries 15 years.
