Brownie Polk, 46, of Oakland, was killed by a police woman. Polk was inside Tolins Liquors, a liquor store in East Oakland, when he took out a hatchet he was carrying and held it over his head while approaching the police officer. Polk ignored several commands to lower his weapon and started walking towards the officer.

The cop fired at Polk. He was shot several times. At the hospital, Polk was pronounced dead.

The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office and the Oakland Police homicide and internal affairs are investigating this incident. The police officer has been placed on administrative leave.
