Brittney Bergeron: Brittney Bergeron story (photos)
By Therese Lisieux on January 10th, 2009Brittney Bergeron,10, and her sister, Kristyanna Cowan, 3, were stabbed in their trailer park home on Jan.22, 2003. Their mother, Tammy Bergeron had left them at home alone and when she returned home, she found both daughters, Brittney Bergeron and Kristyanna Cowan stabbed.
Kristanna Cowan was killed. Brittney Bergeron was paralyzed from her waist down. The motive for the attack was because Tammy Bergeron’s boyfriend sold table salt instead of methamphetamine to Beau Maestas and Monique Maestas. The Maestas were teenage siblings in 2003.
Brittney Bergeron’s journey and the trials of Beau Maestas and Monique Maestas have detailed accounts here. Photos are at the link.

Good Morning Brittney,
I too watched your interview on 20/20 & was numb the entire time you spoke. Your are an AMAZING young lady & quite the role model for everyone. You were given so much to deal with at such a young age(but I must say you did one heck of a job)obviously better than most parents with your little sister Kissie. I won’t ramble any longer just know that God only dishes out what he knows we are capable of dealing with. So keep your head held high & only good things will come to you. Forever in my thoughts & prayers. Sincerely Melissa Grigsby

You are a wonderful beautiful young lady. Your positive attitude and smile are infectious. I am so sorry for your loss and the pain of that night but you are an amazing person and you made it through something most of us would not be able to handle. I wish you nothing but the best in life and may all your dreams come true. You are teaching everyone you come into contact with how to be a loving, kind, positive, happy person and how to enjoy this life that we are given. Thank you Brittney for being you. God bless you sweetie and congratulations on your adoption!!!!
