Bridget Finnerty, 12, and her brother Pierce Finnerty, 6, are the sole survivors of their family home fire in Arlington Heights. Patricia “Trish” Finnerty, 41, her husband Kevin Finnerty, 46, and Garrett Finnerty, 11, their son, died in the fire. The fire was in early hours of Tuesday, June 2.

Bridget and Pierce smelled smoke, woke up from their sleep, and shouted for their parents and Garrett to escape. Bridget and Pierce made their way outside.

Arson is suspected. Trish Finnerty’s bedroom floor showed evidence that the fire could have started there. The fire is being investigated.
