On Friday, Sept. 5, 2008, the news anchors from NBC, CBS and ABC; Brian Williams, Katie Couric and Charles Gibson, respectively — will sit on one set for a commercial-free, prime-time program called; “Stand Up to Cancer.”

This will be a very special broadcast because the cause is a great one. The 3 TV networks are uniting in the fight against cancer in Stand Up to Cancer. This was announced on Wednesday morning on TODAY by Brian Williams, Katie Couric and Charles Gibson. The objective is to raise money for cancer research.

It was Couric’s first live appearance on TODAY. In the past, she co-anchored TODAY for 15 years. She joined CBS Evening News anchor two years ago.
