Brian Smith, 37, is a former Utah State Trooper. Brian Smith was a wanted man on Burglary and robbery arrest warrants. Smith shot himself after police cornered him.

Smith was warded in hospital in a serious condition. Smith shot himself in the head after a standoff with police. It was about 6 hours after the shooting spree along the area of a Dallas highway on Monday evening, Dec. 22.

Smith was alleged to have started his crime spree after he stole Oxycontin pills from a pharmacy counter at a grocery’s. Jorge “George” Lopez of Rowlett, was killed in his car in Garland, when a driver shot him. William Scott Miller, the driver of a United Van Lines rig, 42, was killed. Gary Roberts, 46, driver of a semitrailer, was injured when a shooter shot at his trailer

Brian Smith killed at least one person on Monday, Dec. 22. Smith was suspected of being involved in Monday’s shootings in Dallas because his bullets matched those found in Dallas shootings at one of the sites of crime. Police are investigating to determine if Smith was involved in the other two shootings in the area along the Dallas highway.
