Brian L Rooney: Rooney sentenced for death of Michelle Gardner-Quinn

Brian Rooney was convicted of raping and murdering Michelle Gardner-Quinn, of Arlington, Va. Brian Rooney was sentenced to life in prison without parole for the murder of gardner-Quinn, a University of Vermont student. The state has dropped some more charges against Brian Rooney. The additional charges were for drugging and assaulting other women before he killed Michelle Gardner-Quinn.
On Friday, Oct. 31, the state prosecutors in Caledonia and Chittendon counties said 4 charges against Brian Rooney were dropped. Rooney was originally accused of sexually assaulting a person below 16, of committing a lewd and lascivious conduct with a child and repeated sexual assault. The mentioned link has photos.

Brian L. Rooney, 38, a construction worker and married father of 3, was tried and convicted for murder. Rooney received a sentence of life in prison. The last thing he said to Mr. and Mrs. Gardner-Quinn, the parents of his victim, was that he did not commit the crime.
Rooney was sentenced for the murder of Michelle Gardner-Quinn, 21. Gardner-Quinn was a student of University of Vermont. On Oct 7, 2006, she asked Rooney to lend her his cell phone because hers had gone dead. A surveillance camera caught images of them walking past a jewelry store. Gardner-Quinn disappeared after that. Six days later, Gardner-Quinn was found dead in Huntington Gorge. Gardner-Quinn was half nude. During the autopsy, semen was recovered. The DNA matched Rooney’s. Brian L. Rooney was convicted based on the DNA evidence.
