Brendan Kyle Hatcher, a US State Department worker, was implicated in a sex tape with a hooker. Hatcher works in the US Embassy in Russia and a local website there posted a video of a man having sex with a prostitute.

Hatcher has denied having anything to do with the sex tape. The US embassy officials support Hatcher. They refute the authenticity of the sex tape. Hatcher may be a sore thumb to the Russians as he had worked in religious and human rights. The US claimed Hatcher was targeted in a smear campaign.

In 2008 and 2009, Hatcher received awards for his work in Russia.

In an act of defiance to the Russians, the US Embassy official has proclaimed that Hatcher will stay on in Russia to serve out the remaining duration of his tour.
