Brandon Lee’s death: How did Brandon Lee die?

Brandon Brue Lee, the son of the famous martial arts fighter, Bruce Lee, was an actor. Brandon Lee died in a freak accident on March 31, 1993. How did Brandon Lee die? Brandon Lee actually died three times.

A stage prop gun had one real cartridge lodged inside the gun because of a malfunction. This stuck bullet was called a squib load. The prop manager and crew were unaware of this prop malfunction. This gun was loaded with blank bullets. The squib load was still lodged in the gun.

How did Brandon Lee die? When the blank was fired, the force of explosion pushed out the squib load and this real bullet hit Brandon Lee. The bullet was large in size and the force which hit Brandon Lee was enormous when it was fired at close range. The bullet penetrated Brandon Lee’s abdomen and traveled through to lodge in his spine. Brandon Lee was incapacitated immediately and he fell down. The cast and crew realized something was wrong when Brandon Lee could not respond.

Lee’s heart stopped beating. Brandon Lee had died once. When the ambulance and medical personnel arrived, they revived his heartbeat. In the ambulance, Brandon Lee’s heart failed a second time. Brandon Lee died a second time. In the hospital, Brandon Lee had a long operation that lasted 6 hours. The surgeons removed the bullet from Brandon Lee’s spine. Lee received 60 pints (or 28 liters) of blood during the transfusions. Brandon Lee could not survive despite the doctors’ best efforts. On the same day, at 1:30 pm, March 31, 1993, Brandon Lee passed away. Brandon Lee was buried beside his famous father, Bruce Lee. The next day, there was a memorial service for Brandon Lee.

Brandon Lee left behind his fiancee, Eliza Hutton, his sister Shannon Lee, and his mother, Linda Emery Lee. His uncompleted movie, The Crow, was completed by using a body double and special effects was done to superimpose the face on the new actor.
