Robbie Tolan, son of Bobby Tolan, was shot by a police officer. Tolan has a bullet in his liver. Tolan was shot on Dec. 31, around 2 am. Tolan was with his cousin, Anthony Cooper, when they were confronted in the driveway of their home. Police suspected Tolan and Cooper were driving a stolen car.
Mrs Tolan, Robbie’s mother, heard the commotion and she came outside. One police officer pushed her against the wall, Robbie Tolen, who was ordered to lie flat on the ground, leaned up to ask the officer about his mother. Robbie Tolan was then shot in his chest. The bullet traveled down and lodged in his liver.
Officers are accused of racial profiling since the Tolans lived in a predominantly white neighborhood. The Bellaire police of Houston, Texas, said they are conducting their own investigations. Firstly, their officers mistook Robbie Tolan’s SUV as a stolen vehicle. Secondly, an officer shot an unarmed man in the chest while he was on the ground.
Robbie Tolan’s career as a potential baseball player may be over. Tolan is in pain but is expected to recover.
Bobby Tolan played for the St. Louis Cardinals and Cincinnati Reds, from 1965 to 1979.
