Betty James: Slinky’s Betty James died
By Clarencia Cynrae on November 23rd, 2008Betty James, the co-founder of the manufacturer of Slinky, has died. Betty James passed away at the age of 90. Betty James died on Thur., Nov. 20, in the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Betty James and her husband, Richard James, set up the company, James Industries Inc., that made Slinky in 1945. Betty James was inducted into the Toy Industry Hall of Fame in 2001 because of the recognition paid to the Slinky.
When Richard James left Betty in 1959, Betty James continued with the toy company. Richard James left his wife Betty James for a religious cult in Bolivia. Richard James died in 1974.
