Beth Ann Chester was charged with statutory sexual assault, corruption of a minor and criminal use of a cell phone. She used her cell phone to send the minor erotic messages. Beth Ann Chester was convicted and sentenced to 1 1/2- to 3-year prison. Beth Ann Chester was married but estranged from her husband at the time she started her sexual affair with the student. Her defense lawyer said she was vulnerable at that time.

The boy’s parents found the racy text messages on his cell phone. They confonted Beth Ann Chester and agreed not to press criminal charges if she resigned from the school. Beth Ann Chester’s colleague in the school informed the principal about Beth Ann Chester and the boy. The principal informed the police.
