By Clarencia Cynrae on May 5th, 2009August 13 2009 – Ben Southall, the person holding the job in Australia nicknamed as the “Best Job In The World”, will have company soon. Australia’s Great Barrier Reef promotion body will organize a new opening called “Best Mates in the World”.
The Best Mates won’t get a salary as they get an all expenses paid holiday for one year. The Best Mates will stay on Whitsunday Islands. The Best Mates In The World are required to blog about their experiences living as tourists on the Whitsunday Islands.
Ben Southall, 34, is staying on Hamilton Island with his girlfriend, Breanna Watkins, 22. Southall has been blogging about his experiences to promote Australia’s islands for tourism. Southall’s blog has 150,000 readers. Ben’s parents, Duncan Southall and Margaret Southall, are visiting him in Australia this August.

Ben Southall has won the “Best Job In The World”. Southall won the job to become the caretaker of the islands of Great Barrier Reef. Southall has to report to Tourism Queensland and the world via maintaining blogs, a photo diary, videos and interviews. Southall will be paid A$150,000 p.a.
Ben Southall’s former job was of a British charity fundraiser.
The winner of the “Best Job In The World” for Australia’s janitor for island in the Great Barrier Reef will be announced soon. The job interviews and vetting for the finalists have started.
