Berkeley tree sitters came down

By Clarencia Cynrae on September 10th, 2008

The Berkeley tree sitters on the UC Berkeley campus have agreed to end their protest after negotiations. The Berkeley tree sitters were protesting the construction of a new sports center that involved the felling of trees.

The University of California has agreed to form a land use committee to consider suggestions from students and community members for the school’s decisions on land use. On Tuesday, September 9, only two trees remained on the grounds intended for the sports complex. The Berkeley tree sitters descended from their post after 21 months on the protest stance that began in 2006.
