Barton Bart Corbin killed Jennifer Corbin & Dolly Hearn
By Therese Lisieux on November 8th, 2009In December 2004, Jennifer Corbin was found dead. Police received a tip that Mrs Corbin’s death could be related to Dolly Hearn’s death, some 14 years earlier. Both women were involved with Barton Corbin and both died just after informing Corbin that they were leaving him.
Jennifer Corbin had an online affair with a woman named Anita. Anita had disguised herself by pretending to be “Chris”. Most likely, this relationship with Anita / Chris cost Jennifer her life as Bart discovered it. Mr Corbin filed for divorce.
Steve Comeau, a neighbor, saw Corbin’s truck returning home at around 1:30 am on the night Jennifer died. Several minutes later, he heard Corbin’s truck pulling away from the house. Corbin’s alibi said he spent the night at his brother’s home from 1:35 onwards. It was argued that Barton Corbin killed his wife before he headed to his brother’s home.
Barton Corbin and Jennifer Corbin had two sons, Dalton Corbin, then 7 in 2004, and Dillon Corbin. Barton staged the murder of Jennifer to make it look like a suicide and he wanted to get custody of his sons. When the sons discovered the body of their mother, they immediately said it was their father who shot their mother. Neither Dalton nor Dillon saw or heard the gun but they guessed their father did it.
Dolly Hearn, 27, was a dental student when she was found dead with a gunshot wound through her head. Hearn was Mr Corbin’s girlfriend and they had just broken up again after a tumultuous relationship that had several breaks and reunions. Bart Corbin was also a fellow dental student at the time of their relationship.
Dolly Hearn’s death was ruled mistakenly as a suicide through a self-inflicted gunshot wound. It was unusual that Dolly Hearn’s hand had no blood on it even though she was deemed to have pulled the trigger. Hearn had a blood splatter on her thigh and investigators suspected Hearn’s body was moved after her death to reposition her.
Bart Corbin asked his friend Richard Wilson for a gun. Corbin told Wilson his wife was unfaithful to him and he needed a gun to protect himself. Richard Wilson eventually broke down during some intense police interviews. Wilson told police he gave Corbin a gun. From then, the prosecutor and defense knew the case was solved.
Barton Corbin was offered a plea deal to save his life. Corbin was asked to plead guilty to murdering Jennifer Corbin and Dolly Hearn. Corbin was sentenced to two life sentences, to be served concurrently. Bart Corbin will be eligible for parole in 2020.
