Barbara Hoffman was a student of UW. Hoffman earned money by her sideline profession as a massage parlor prostitute.

Hoffman was accused of killing two of her massage parlor clients to get their money. Hoffman was convicted for the murder of one of her clients. Hoffman’s story has been retold as a film called “Winter of Frozen Dreams”.

Barbara Hoffman has been eligible for parole since 1991 but she has refused to apply for parole. The movie is an adaptation of the novel on Hoffman’s life. Although the film tried to follow the book as truthfully as possible, there were some interpretations that may be uniquely different from the book.

Barbara Hoffman’s “Winter of Frozen Dreams” will be presented at the Wisconsin Film Festival on Saturday, April 4.
