The band, Awful Truth, used a photo of Erik Hite, a dead cop, in their album cover for “Kill A Cop For God”. The picture showed a dying or dead Erik Hite on the ground. Hite was shot and his fellow officers were aiding him.

Awful Truth is being sued for copyright violations because the photo belonged to The Arizona Daily Star newspaper. Awful Truth’s singer, David Stine, said he was unaware of the lawsuit. Stine said he did not think it was wrong to use the photo. The album also has a controversial title.
