Ashton Lundeby, 16, has been accused of making a bomb threat from his home on Feb 15. Lundeby is home schooled and is in the 10th grade. On March 5, FBI and police went to his home and took Lundeby into their custody.
Law enforcement confiscated Lundeby’s computer, gaming console, routers, cell phone, bank statements and school records. There were no bomb making materials found in Ashton Lundeby’s home. The officers were acting under the US Patriot Act. Ashton Lundeby’s photo.

Sixteen-year-old Ashton Lundeby’s bedroom in his mother’s Granville County home is nothing, if not patriotic. Images of American flags are everywhere – on the bed, on the floor, on the wall.
But according to the United States government, the tenth-grade home-schooler is being held on a criminal complaint that he made a bomb threat from his home on the night of Feb. 15.
The family was at a church function that night, his mother, Annette Lundeby, said.
“Undoubtedly, they were given false information, or they would not have had 12 agents in my house with a widow and two children and three cats,” Lundeby said.
Around 10 p.m. on March 5, Lundeby said, armed FBI agents along with three local law enforcement officers stormed her home looking for her son. They handcuffed him and presented her with a search warrant.
His mother – a widow- had her house entered and her 12 yr old girl terrified and her 16 yr old honor student son taken from his mother falsely accused of internet bomb threats. His ip address was stolen to do this.
This is the most horrific of many tragic abuses of the Patriot Act. This mother’s heart breaks to hear her tears and how his 12 yr old sister cries herself to sleep.
Please – please hear the cry of my heart…I don’t like to talk about this because it’s too painful…but my 1st born son was kidnapped at age 15 right after I became a believer, right after I was nearly bludgeoned to death and sustained concussion, hematoma, and 3 fractures in my guitar hand. I fasted and prayed for 40 days. The fast was not intentional. I just couldn’t eat. On the 40th day some truth came forward that helped me get my son back. But he’s never been the same. I was so alone with this trial. So is this widow. She needs your prayers- if you pray. She needs your letters to your congressmen if you will.
And I believe her battle is our battle. She’s fighting for her 16yr old and I believe for what shreds of liberty are left in our country.

Wired has done a good job of showing how the Feds have not acted improperly. Phoning in a fake bomb threat is a crime, tracing the IP could be done easily with a private warrant, and the Feds should know from the contents of his computer whether or not Ashton made the calls. His mom wants to be made out to be a victim and wants more pity. Not very hard to sound that horn when you can blame it on something unpopular like the Patriot Act.
