Asa Yamashita was a member of the English faculty at Waianae High School. Yamashita was stabbed to death on Friday, Feb 27. Yamashita was stabbed at the Ewa Beach parking lot of a Oahu shopping center.

Eye witnesses saw a man stab Yamashita several times in her stomach and arms. Yamashita was sitting alone and eating “saimin” when a man rushed up to her.

Yamashita was stabbed and she ran to a nail salon next door to where she was sitting. Yamashita shouted for help.

Police found Yamashita’s assailant. He had dumped a knife into the bushes nearby. Honolulu police found the suspect smoking a cigarette nearby. Police detained the suspect and placed him into their custody.

Yamashita was sent to hospital but she was pronounced dead. Police are investigating.
