April Tinsley went missing on April 1, 1988. Tinsley, 8, disappeared on Good Friday from Hoagland Avenue, Fort Wayne. Tinsley was from Fairfield Elementary School. Tinsley was walking home from her friend’s house when she disappeared.

A few days later, Tinsley’s body was found in south DeKalb County. Tinsley was sexually assaulted and suffocated to death.

It has been 21 years since Tinsley’s death. This cold case is still kept warm on the oven burner because there were indications her killer is still alive and kicking out notes. The killer left notes in 1990 and 2004.

The note in 1990 was written in crayon on a barn door near to the location where Tinsley’s body was found. The note writer claimed responsibility for Tinsley’s death.

In 2004, notes on yellow lined paper were found in Fort Wayne. The notes were enclosed inside plastic bags with used condoms. Sometimes, these notes and condoms were accompanied with Polaroid photos of the killer’s body. Some of the notes were placed on bicycles belonging to young girls. Their bikes were in the front yards of their homes. Some notes made references to April Tinsley.

April Tinsley’s killer is alive and on the prowl.

The TV show, “America’s Most Wanted”, will feature April Tinsley on April 11, 2009.
