Antonio Burks was shot on Monday, July 20. Burks was injured during a robbery attempt, at the 4th Street and LaClede Avenue, on Monday, 6 pm. Burks used to play for the University of Memphis and Memphis Grizzlies.

Burks was able to approach a stranger with a truck to ask for help. Anthony Jefferson obliged. Burks told him that if he died before reaching the hospital, he wanted his family to know he didn’t want them to cry for him.

Antonio Burks was warded in a critical condition in hospital. Police said three robbers tried to rob 6 people at the backyard of a house. Police think Burks was not targeted and the robbery was a random attempt.
