Andre the Giant’s real name was Andre Rene Roussimoff. Andre the Giant lived from May 19, 1946 to January 27, 1993. Andre the Giant was a professional wrestler hailing from France. Andre became a giant due to acromegaly. Andre was 7 feet 4 inch tall. Andre weighed between 380 – 550 pounds.

Andre the Giant was also fondly nicknamed as “The Eighth Wonder of the World”. Andre the Giant was once the WWF Championship belt holder. Andre was the first inductee into WWE’s Hall of Fame in 1993.

Andre the Giant’s health started to deteriorate in the 1980s as his heart struggled to pump blood through his large body. Andre was constantly wheel chair bound. On Jan 27, 1993, Andre was in Paris, to attend the funeral rites of his father. Andre died in his sleep. Andre’s cause of death was congestive heart failure.
