Amanda Jo Stott-Smith, of Oregon, was arrested on Saturday after her two children were found in the cold Williamette River. Stott-Smith’s children went off the Sellwood Bridge near Portland. Residents heard screams and called police. Some took to the boats to search for the humans in Williamette River. They did not know what they were searching for but guessed some people had fallen into the dark river.

Stott-Smith’s son, Eldon Jay Rebhan Smith, 4 years old, drowned before he was found. Stott-Smith’s daughter, 7, survived. She was sent to hospital. Both children were found downstream 1 hour after they were in the water. It was dark in the water at around 1 am.

Stott Smith faces murder and attempted murder charges. Stott-Smith was found in a garage parking building and she threatened to jump down from the 9th floor.
