Amanda Brumfield, the eldest daughter of Billy Bob Thornton, has been charged with child neglect. Brumfield had been babysitting a baby, 1 year old, when the child died. Brumfield claimed the child died after a fall from her playpen. The autopsy revealed the girl died from a fractured skull and subdural hematoma. The girl suffered a force from blunt trauma.

Amanda Brumfield’s mother is Melissa Gatlin. Melissa Gatlin was Billy Bop Thornton’s first wife. Thornton issued a statement to say that he is estranged from Amanda Brumfield and had no contact with her. Thornton made a public statement to express grief for the deceased child.

Brumfield said she checked the toddler and found she had a bleeding tongue. Brumfield said she cleaned up the girl and fed her fruit snacks. Brumfield said the girl and herself were on the couch when she fell asleep. Later, she carried the girl and felt that the child had gone limp. Police said the call for emergency services was placed some 2 and half hours after the fall.
