Alma Arenas-Perez, 32, was killed in her home in East Elmore Avenue, Dallas. Arenas-Perez’s daughter, 7 years old, was injured in the attack that occurred sometime between Saturday and Sunday, or June 6 – 7. Another child of Alma Arenas-Perez was unhurt. This younger child is 2 years old.

Police arrested Edgar Murga, 25, of Dallas. Murga is Arenas-Perez’s brother-in-law. Murga is a suspect in Alma’s slaying and he was charged with murder and assault. Edgar Murga’s bail is $150,000.

Alma Arenas-Perez and her children had attended a function on Saturday and returned home on Saturday evening. Her husband did not return with them but made his way home on early Sunday morning. He found his wife in the house and his wounded daughter outside on the sidewalk just outside their home. The girl was wounded on her neck and her condition is very serious.

There will be an autopsy on Alma Arenas-Perez to determine her cause of death.
