Alissa Czisny, 21, won the women’s championship at the US Figure Skating Championships. Last year in 2008, Alissa Czisny finished 9th. Czisny was overjoyed with tears when she read the results and saw she was the winner.

Czisny was imperfect at the competition. Czisny was third in the free skate. Czisny had a heart stopping moment when she fell on a triple lutz. A reviewer said Czisny won because of her elegance, maturity and basic skating skills.

Czisny scored 178.06 points. Czisny scored 4 points higher than Rachael Flatt, the incumbent world junior champion. Caroline Zhang, 15, the 2007 junior champ, came in third in 2009 US Figure Skating Championships. Ashley Wagner won the free skate and came a long way from her previous stance of being in the 12th place.
