Alexandra Van Horn vs Lisa Torti: Horn sues friend Torti
By Clarencia Cynrae on December 20th, 2008Lisa Torti tried to be a good Samaritan by rescuing her friend, Alexandra Van Horn, from a car wreck. Torti ended up becoming known as the “Good Samaritan Sued.” Torti claimed she feared the car would explode so she pulled Alexandra Van Horn out of the wreckage. Van Horn became paralysed after her car accident. Van Horn blamed Torti for pulling her and injuring her and causing paralysis.
The judge in California’s Supreme Court ruled that Lisa Torti was not obliged to help. Torti can be sued for not exercising due care while pulling Van Horn from the wreckage. Lisa Torti and Alexandra Van Horn have lawyers to handle this case.

What the hell? So let me get this straight this bitch is sueing her FRIEND because she tried to SAVE HER. She was tossed aound like a rag doll HMM maybe because IT WAS A DAMN MOMENT OF PANIC and adrenaline made her a little bit stronger then normal. To bad she didn’t let her die in the car HUH?

Thanks for pulling me out of this wreck! Now gimme all your money!!
I feel bad for her being paralyzed, but what kind of EVIL BITCH sues the FRIEND who tried to rescue her? She’s bitter about her paralysis so she’s out to ruin someone else’s life to make herself feel better and score some bucks in the process. That’s the American Way!

This is just so sad to me, that now we live in a society where we can get sued if we help or if we don’t. Did she sue the driver of the car too? Did she sue the guy who sold them the pot they used before going out? Did she sue the bartender for giving them drinks? Did she sue the bar that served them till they were unable to drive? Did she sue the ambulance for not getting there fast enough? Did she sue the police for…well, i’m sure they are to blame for something… Did she sue the state for providing unsafe roads, how dare they be icy!? She has a lot of work ahead of her greedy ass. Crap happens, you don’t punish those who tried to help.

Alex is a friend of mine- I have known her for 14 years. She is not an evil, horrible person. Alex is very kind and loving. You people don’t know the whole story. You have only heard one side. Everyone knows if there is a victim in a car crash that can’t move- DON’T move them.
Wishing death upon another person is so sad and inhumane.

Stephanie, I’ve been arguing about this with some friends of mine and I’m on your side. It seems to me that people are piling on Ms. Van Horn and are ignoring the fact that she was needlessly paralyzed and i’m sure the medical care she’s had to receive has incurred a great deal of expense. the fact that people pile on her for having the audacity to try and regather some of what she’s lost in her life is very sad, in my opinion.

“Needlessly” paralyzed? If she couldn’t move enough to get herself out of a smoking car, she was probably *already* paralyzed. You don’t let an immobile person die in car fire just because there’s a small chance that moving them will make things worse than they already are.
