Alexander James Smith, an infant of a few days old, was removed from his crib by the family dog. The 4 year old Native American Indian dog was seen by Mr and Mrs Smith carrying baby Alexander in its mouth. Alexander was in his crib Monday afternoon, July 20, when the family pet got to him. The family lives in Kentucky.

Alexander Smith was sent to hospital and found to have suffered serious injuries. The infant had punctures and bruises and was warded in a critical condition. Animal control officers have detained the dog named Dakota.
