Updated Aug 25 – Hillsdale High School teachers and students have named the suspect as Alexander Youshock. Alex Youshock is 17 and police said they would not be naming him. Law enforcement searched his apartment and removed bags of material that were used to make bombs.

Alex Youshock used to be a student at Hillsdale High School. A student who shared classes with him described Youshock as being quiet, keeping to himself and having very few friends.

Alex Youshock had around 8 bombs strapped to a vest that he wore at the time he was spotted. Police cut the vest away from Youshock and detonated the bombs.

San Mateo County D.A. was considering what type of charges to press against Alex Youshock, and whether he would be standing trial as an adult.

Hillsdale High School in San Mateo started Monday, August 24, with a big bang. A male student from Hillsdale High was arrested. He might have cooked up a homemade bomb which exploded outside a sophomore history class and made his name go down in history.

Hillsdale High students said their teachers tackled the suspected culprit. Hillsdale High pupils ended their school day early on Monday. Authorities went over the school thoroughly, checking for potential dangers.
