By Clarencia Cynrae on March 9th, 2009A Cessna plane crashed at Camp Pendleton on Saturday, March 7. The Cessna was en route to Montgomery Field at 5:50 pm when it crashed at Camp Pendleton. Alan Jacobson of Costa Mesa was identified as the pilot.
Three on board suffered injuries. Two people had critical injuries while the third was moderately injured. Interstate 5 was near the crash site. Drivers who were on Interstate 5 reported seeing the crash.The plane crashed into Red Beach, near Las Pulgas exit.
What happened to he plane? One samaritan who went to assist at the crash site said Alan Jacobson told him the engine went out suddenly. Jacobson attempted a short field landing, overshot, and crashed.
Jacobson had a broken wrist and cuts on his body. Jacobson’s condition was listed as serious. One other passenger was in a serious condition. Another passenger had minor injuries.
Several Marines from the camp nearby were at hand to help. Several motorists stopped to assist. The three survivors were pulled out of the plane wreck.
