Ahmed Mohamed Dhore, from Somalia, is 112 years old and has married a girl, 17 years old. Dhore married Safiya Abdulle in Galguduud. Dhore said he had the blessings of Abdulle’s parents.

Although Dhore claimed he was 112, he has no documents to back his claim on his age.

Dhore and Abdulle were married on Tuesday, October 27. Dhore has been married 5 times before and out of his five wives, three have died. Dhore is a Muslim and in that part of Muslim Somalia, polygamy is practiced.

Dhore said he had been waiting many years before proposing to Abdulle. He had watched her grow up before he spoke to her to convince her of his love. Dhore said he wanted to have many children with Abdulle.

Dhore said his reason for getting married was because his children and grandchildren persuaded him to. His surviving wife is 90 years old and sickly. Dhore said he last got married 75 years ago.
