Adrienne Shelly was an actress and film maker. Adrienne Shelly was murdered by Diego Pillco, a construction worker. Shelly’s husband, Andrew Ostroy, is suing the construction worker’s employer. Shelly’s husband, Andrew Ostroy, claimed his wife, Adrienne Shelly, would not have died if the construction firm had not hired an illegal immigrant.

Diego Pillco was from Ecuador and he was trying to rob Adrienne Shelly’s apartment when she caught him. Diego Pillco strangled Adrienne Shelly. Diego Pillco was renovating another apartment in the same New York building when he broke into Shelly’s apartment.

Andrew Ostroy claimed that the Bradford General Contractors (BGC), the managers of the building and the owners of the building, should be responsible for the death of Adrienne Shelly as they were liable for hiring Diego Pillco. Andrew Ostroy is asking for damages to be awarded on behalf of Shelly’s daughter, Sophie, 4.

Diego Pillco has been convicted for killing Adrienne Shelly in November, 2006. Pillco received 25 years in prison.
