Updated on March 31: Addie Polk has died. Polk died at the age of 91. Polk’s cause of death was not related to her self inflicted shooting injuries. Sommerville Funeral Services in Akron will handle the funeral arrangements for Addie Polk.

Addie Polk, of Akron, Ohio, became the poster child of Fannie Mae’s home mortgage crisis when she shot herself over an eviction. Sheriff deputies went to her home and tried to evict her.

Addie Polk was hospitalized for self inflicted gun shot wounds to her upper body on Wed. afternoon. Fannie Mae’s spokesman, Brian Faith, said that Fannie Mae has stopped taking action against Addie Polk and signed the property over to her.
