Adam Harvell, 36, was fatally shot by police. Harvell was killed Tuesday night, May 12. Harvell was shot in Glen Oaks, West Des Moines. Harvell also went by the name Adam Sims.

Police failed to get a response at the door of Harvell’s home. They entered Harvell’s home. He came down the stairwell and pointed a gun at officers. Police opened fire.

Harvell was previously convicted of felony weapons charges in 1992. Harvell served 10 months in prison and served the remainder of his sentence on probation. In 1998, Adam Harvell was sentenced to 2 years for bad checks.
